The impressive church, which dominates at a central point of the area of Kolonaki, is dedicated to the patron saint of Athens, Dionysios Areopagitis and it celebrates on the 3rd of October. It was constructed between 1925 and 1931, according to plans of the architect Anastasios Orlandos, with the help of Dimitrios Filippakis. Many important Greek artists worked for the decoration of the church, like the painter Spiros Vasileiou, Sotirios Varvoglis and Stefanos Xenopoulos and Theofanis Nomikos.
