Parnitha with the dozen mountain tops, gorges and plateaus is the highest mountain of Attica and important from antiquity with references to historical settlements. One of the ten national parks, it is known for its rich forests of pine and fir trees, the rare plants and wild animals, the two shelters and of course the deep snow that covers it in the winter attracting many Athenians, lovers of winter sports.
