Statue of Kolokotronis, Lazaros Sochos, Old Parliament
One of the most important works of modern Greek sculpture, both regarding its aesthetics and its history. It was constructed by the material from the canons of the Revolution that were inside the castle of Palamidi. The sculptor Lazaros Sochos in order to depict Kolokotronis used a mold he took from the dead general. He also studied the faces of his relatives, read his memoirs and observed his personal items. Kolokotronis is depicted riding a horse. The bronze statue was made in 1894.
