Simple and robust the building of the Bank of Greece at Panepistimiou street indicates a tendency for an academic expression of the architecture of public buildings which is seen frequently during the period between the wars. Although it was built in 1933-1938 the architects Nikolaos Zouboulidis and Konstantinos Papadakis present a neoclassical building whose façade mimics faithfully the Old Royal Palace, designed by Gartner a century before. It is an impressive building since it occupies the whole block.
