The ports of Attica transport annually millions of passengers and merchandise. Piraeus, as the largest port of the country and Eastern Mediterranean, has the largest number of passengers and is followed by Lavrio and Rafina. The port of Eleusis is exclusively commercial transporting merchandise, while there are other smaller ones. At most of the ports of Attica there were recently reconstruction and infrastructure expansion works.
Port of Eleusis
The port of Eleusis is located at the northwestern edge of Saronic gulf, occupies an area of 50,000m2.
Port of Lavrio
The third largest port of Attica operates as a centre for the transportation of passengers, vehicles and merchandise as well as for ships.
Port of Piraeus
The first port of the country and one of the largest in the Mediterranean is an important centre of transportation since it serves approximately 19 million passengers a year.
