Orphanage Orphanage Orphanage Orphanage Orphanage
Another of the so-called Kapodistrian buildings is the Orphanage, the first public building of the newly-established Greek state, which was built in 1928 by the architect Theodoros Vallianos in order to house the orphans of the Revolution. It also functioned as a school of crafts for the inmates. It was founded in an expanse that was granted by the city and was constructed in just a year with materials from the ancient walls and the ancient theatre of Aegina. For 100 years it functioned as a prison.
