One of the leading men of the Greek Revolution, Georgios Karaiskakis, when he was wounded mortally at the battle of Faliro, he requested to be transported to the church of Agios Dimitrios, whom he considered to be his patron, and to be buried inside it. After the edict of Otto the remains of Karaiskakis were transported into a tomb in Faliro except of seven of his bones which remained to the church after the persistence of the priest and they are still there today.
