Just a few steps from Syntagma square we encounter the Mansion of the Old Parliament, the first permanent house of the Greek Parliament. It was founded in 1858 by queen Amalia and was constructed according to the plans of the French architect François Boulanger with the contribution of the architect Panagiotis Kalkos. The official opening of the Parliament was on the 11th of August 1875, with prime minister Charilaos Trikoupis. Today it houses the National Historical Museum.
