The work of Dimitrios Filipotis has been placed originally in 1908 at a small square of Amalias Avenue, where they colored it, mutilated and stoned. In 1958 it was transferred to the garden of Zappeion Mansion. Even though it is a classicist work it has liveliness and simplicity, something that is due to the presentation of a daily image with a common activity, the cutting of the wood. The introduction of themes from the everyday life of simple people was the contribution of Filipotis to the art of sculpture.
