The statue of Apollo is based on a column of Ionian order at a height of 10 meters from the level of the Academy. It is modeled after Apollo of Belvedere, a Roman copy of a bronze original from the 4th century, a sculpture that has influenced intensely European art. The sculpture is made of Pentelic marble and the weapons of bronze. It the work of Leonidas Drosis who added a lyre that Apollo holds.
