National Observatory of Athens – Visitor Centre in Thissio

The Visitor Centre in Thissio is located at the historical area of the National Observatory on top of the hill of Nymphs, opposite the sacred rock of the Acropolis. It was founded in 1842 based on the plans of the Danish architect Τheophil Hansen.
The visitors of the Centre have the ability to tour the Geoastrophysics Museum, the library and to see the large number of scientific instruments from the previous century. At the Centre there are tours for students or other organized groups, while it is worth watching one of the night tours that include a night observation with the Doridis telescope.
