In the wonderful pine trees forest of Salamina, at a location with a view towards the bay of the island is the Monastery of Agios Nikolaos Lemonion. It is not known when it was founded since the inscription with the date 1742 can be mentioned either to the foundation or to a renovation. The church of the monastery is an aisleless basilica with two gates and simple decoration in its interior. During the Turkish occupation and the Revolution it was the refuge of the persecuted. It was closed for 130 years and was re-founded in 1966 as a women’s monastery.
