The white chapel on the top of Lycabettus which resembles Cycladic architecture is an aisleless basilica with a dome and was constructed in the end of the 18th century. From the depictions of travellers we know that at the same place there was a Christian church already from the years of the Turkish occupation, while in antiquity here was the temple of Zeus Akraios. Marble inscriptions that were found close to it mention a small cemetery. The bell tower of Agios Georgios was the gift of the queen Olga to the faithful of Athens. From the yard of the church you can enjoy the view of the whole city.
