Penteli Penteli Penteli Penteli
Penteli mountain is known for the dense pine tree forests at its foothills, the springs and of course the white marble that has been used since the Classical Period for the construction of monuments to modern Athens of the 19th century. The Monastery of Penteli, founded in 1576, and the Observatory, which has operated since 1937, are some of the most beautiful monuments of modern history. The uncontrolled construction of the last decades and the fires continue to threaten this important green area.
