The heart of the aristocratic district of Kolonaki is one of the most well-known squares, the Kolonaki Square. It was designed in 1870 and was later renamed to Filiki Eteria Square in honor of the organization. At a point of the square are the busts of the members of Filiki Eteria, Skoufas, Tsakalov and Xanthos. The “bidet” of the 1960s, as the square was known at the time, is today an island of expensive stores, popular cafes, busy bars and luxurious restaurants. The architects Suzana and Dimitris Antonakakis were responsible the last redesign of the square.
