Psiri Psiri Psiri Psiri
The area of Psiri is one of the most historic and picturesque districts of Athens, as well as the favorite stop of tourists. It is in close proximity to Monastiraki and is enclosed by Evripidou, Geraniou, Sophocleous, Athinas, Ermou, Pireos and Agios Asomaton streets. The central square of Psiri is called the square of heroes, and at the street that end here you can find taverns with live music, original galleries and excellent café-bars. Impressive are the small, narrow alleys which were paved with stone in the last years and the not very high buildings. A decade ago Psiri became the focus and at the same time the favorite area of every man local or tourist, with the intense night life. That’s why, especially abroad, is considered the Soho of Greece. So, wander around its alleys –be especially careful since the incidents of theft are very frequent– and surrender to the magic of a historical area which unites yesterday with the modern urban culture.
