The Greek land produces excellent raw materials for the production of distillates. Fruits, aromatic herbs and seeds are the basis for the production of drinks like ouzo, tsipouro, raki, cognac, liqueurs, mastic, kumquat and numerous others that one encounters while travelling in Greece. The distillation tradition that goes back through the centuries, continued from Byzantium at Mount Athos and then during the Turkish occupation reaching to the present days.
